Méribel is a microcosm of all the best the mountains have to offer. In just a few hours, you can come across everything that it would normally take months in the Alps to discover… High mountain tarns, lakes nestling in the heart of pine forests, mountain torrents you can follow back to their source, spectacular peaks over 3,000m high, mountain passes reserved for cyclists, a mountain golf course, chamois, ibex, black grouse and ptarmigan… So many marvels to soak in while listening to a babbling mountain brook!
Méribel benefits from an exceptional natural setting. More than 20% of its valley lies in the Vanoise National Park, at the entrance of which the Plan de Tuéda Nature Reserve offers a priceless green setting for local fauna and flora. The many lakes, alpine meadows, forests, ridges and summits over 3,000m high that make up this natural environment are a must for those who love to watch wildlife such as marmots, ibex, chamois, ptarmigan or black grouse. Picnicking by the Tuéda Lake, family hikes to the Saut mountain refuge, learn photography, watch sunsets or hike into the Park as far as the Gébroulaz glacier – these are just some of the many activities to delight anybody who needs to recharge their batteries.
Mountain holidays are also all about open air sport. Make the most of the great outdoors by trying new activities, indulging yourself, having fun with friends or family or improving your skills. Méribel’s sporting activities are many and various, ranging from biking to fishing, with horse-riding, trail running, golfing, paragliding, via ferrata or glacier hikes – there is something for absolutely everybody!
