Nature reserve

A nature reserve adjoing the National Park of Vanoise!

Created in 1990, it extends from Lake Tuéda to the Glacier of Gébroulaz, passing by the refuge of Saut. On the two banks of Doron des Allues, 1,100 hectares of an exceptional natural habitat are preserved. Near to Lake Tuéda, the Swiss pines, with needles grouped into five, consitute one of the most beautiful Cembraies in the Alps. A botanical signposted route allows walkers to disocver more than a hundred species of mountain plant life.

  • Linnée boréale:
Develops across the mossy mass of fallen rocks. These hanging flowers, generally grouped into pairs are white and pale pink and flower in July. This protected plant, a relic of the glacier age, can no longer be found in Savoie.
The Linnée boréale resort in the Tuéda Plan Reser fetaures major points of attraction:
    • it is the largest resort in terms of surface area and in number of feet,
    • it is the only station located in a protected area.
  • The Black Grouse, a bird affected by the mountain changes:
The Black Grouse, or wood grouse is a discreet yet prestigious inhabitant of the nature reserve. They make up the backdrop of areas (moors, grassland, prairies, clearings) which can be found between 1,400 and 2,300 metres maximum altitude in the forest. This is a bird the popualtion of which is regressing owing to agricultural underestimations (traditional practices were favourable) and the competition of ski resorts. The nature reserve is a refuge for this bird.

So set off upon the discovery of the reserve but please be considerate and respectful!

Noteworthy:

  • Mandatory parking at the Plan Ravet (Méribel-Mottaret) car park - 10 minutes on foot.
  • Dogs are prohibited in the Nature Reserve and in the National Park (except up to the plan refuge,on the footpath where they must be kept on a lead).
  • On the banks of Lake Tuéda, "the House of the Tuéda Plan Reserve" located above the restaurant, offers:
    • Opening times: from 6 July to 28 August 2015.
    • Information Centre: From Monday to Sunday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
