Via Ferrata marks the main event at Méribel with canyoning! It allows us to wak along routes up high with family or friends. Méribel and its neighbouring valleys offer three routes.
The Via Ferrata de la Rosière, at Courchevel, marks a beginner itinerary. Two to two and half hours are needed to complete this easy route. The most striking element on this route is the Nepalese bridge which is 57 metres long and crosses the valley. This walk does not exceed a height of 40 metres.
Via Ferrata of Dent du Burgin was created in 1998. It is the highest in France! Its summit stands at 2,700 m of altitude and offers a magnificent and unbeatable view of the entire Alps (and therefore Mont-Blanc!). It completely passes over the Dent du Burgin sumnmit. Its level of difficulty is medium, some parts are stunning, such as the descent of the Petite Aiguille "Le Curé", at a vertical height of 70 m. The Via Ferrata maximum height is between 100 and 120 metres. Other sections are very easy and you are able to eat and drink without any problems. It can be accessed via the gondola lift at Pas du Lac which goes up to Saulire. A full day is needed to complete it (think about bringing a picnic!)
The third Via Ferrata on offer initiates at Pralognan. It is short but intense alongside a great waterfall, which can be crossed thanks to a rope bridge. It finsihes with two large ziplines, 200 and 400 metres long. Unlike the previous Via Ferrata, this one cannot be accessed alone (without guide) owing to the equipment required for the zipline.
The Via Ferrata is accessible to groups of six or more. The equipment (harness, helmet) is provided on-site.
The programme covers a host of challenges... So, set off this summer on a high up hike!
