'La Route des Tommes': in the olden days, having made their Tomme cheeses, the farmers would take them by mule as far as Italy for sale.

'La Route des Glaces': In order to satisfy the demand for ice from the Brides Les Bains’ hotels for their cold rooms, the inhabitants of the Allues valley hacked off blocks of ice from the Gébroulaz glacier and transported them to Brides by mule.
